The PEAK and downfall of the mobile games era
Hi guys !! hope you're all doing good!
yapping:
this night im rewriting this blog cause i did write this yesterday night and my computer decided to delete everything while i was re-reading it before posting (i cried a little because i putted alot of effort in it... i went watching the demon slayer movie after to comfort me and rengoku died)
i know it'll not be as perfect as it was but let's try it again ; imma do it as a school presentation bc idk how should i write this : its actually my first time expressing my mind on the internet so i'll try my best to keep it understandable, as if someone is gonna read this entirely
LET'S GET STARTED:
I'll like always start with an introduction of the subject,
Then talk about the peak of the mobile games,
Of course its downfall, how and why,
And a conclusion!!!
before starting i'll ask you 2 things : forgive me for boiling your eyes, english is not my first language so this blog may have a lot of mistakes sorry :< and second don't be too harsh with me its my first time ever doing this and its on something i do really like but im not super well informed so if i miss something important im also sorry :(
Introduction
If you're part of the gen z, or one of the early gen alpha, you of course know what kind of games im talking about : subway surfer, rider, jetpack joyride, maybe edge ; the games we were playing when we were child on our mom's phone, cousin's tablet or else.
Those games, when you didn't owned or were forbidden to touch a computer or a game console, was perfect for you !!! Just by the number of downloads, 1Md for a simple mobile game with repetitive mechanics, wtf.
PEAK of the mobile games era
Those games maybe look boring now, but remember when it was fire back then, during our childhood. When we were playing it and ENJOYING IT, with or without our siblings and cousins. The famous "when you die its my turn!", being stressed about this police man running behind us with his dog and everything. I'm talking about this era, when we didn't care if we were connected or not, and where we couldn't make the difference between mobile data and wi-fi BECAUSE those game didn't needed it.
I don't know if it's the same from where you're reading this but in my country it was serious game and the famous youtuber were posting video of their gameplay and all!!
Now when im playing it and enjoying it while im at school, people stare at me and laugh :(
im more playing edge and rider, the repetitive mechanics of subway surfer got me bored and i cannot help this case for that ik im trying to defend them but i also have to tell the truth..
The downfall of the mobile games era, how and why
Since the lockdown, people had time to play "real games" like valorant, genshin impact, and are less-interested in those games and since we're more often connected, we do not "need" to have games working with no internet because of social media and especially tiktok, because that really is useful if you need to let time fly : all my classmate in school use it instead of enjoying a game between class or during a break.
I often use the word "enjoying" because me and people around me don't take time to appreciate a good thing, and it's the same for the mobile games : the last persons playing seriously at it is for the same reason as using tiktok : letting time flies, when we're in transports or just don't wanna study or working or idk but there's a lot of good mobiles games !! im not just talking about subway surfers or temple run, bc they're really repetitive, but there's still studios working and cooking on mobile games, and ik they're quite hard to find on the app store, but they do exist, in my heart at least.
for example, buff studios create a lot of good story-games where you can make decision that will lead you to a specific end, and you can still restart it and make other choice to have the other ends because they're not really long ! its chill and cosy and i like this in mobile game ; i recommend you 7days and not exactly a hero. of course it'll never be as good as games like detroit become human, but it is not comparable.
And i personally think its better to "waste your times" on those games than scrolling on whatever the social media you use.
To answer the question how and why, i'll say : lockdown, social media, repetitive mechanics, new games and new gen ;
The last thing i have to say is that i think mobile games will never and unfortunately be taken seriously, even in the future because the new gen is already used to "big" games like fortnite, roblox etc and will not like those kind of games, which i found sad because its something that i really like and should be a little more recognized, i did focus a lot on subway surfer i think it was a bad idea but its too late.
Conclusion
If you're here reading this, thank u so much for taking ur time and read all this mess ; i feel a little bad because i didnt managed to explain well my thought and its not organized.
Im sorry for the mistakes, the bad-writing and explaining, maybe i'll try to edit it later but im tired :(
Just please take your time and play/ENJOY more mobile games because some good ones exist and deserve better, at least a better reputation than tiktok.
Thank you again and happy new year !!!!
