games i played in 2024 that were cool (and you should play too)

1. DISCO ELYSIUM. probably the best written game i have ever played, highly recommend. this is one of those games that changes you forever and it honestly feels like this game has done more for me than any psychiatrist has. there's a lot of quotes i will be taking with me to the grave. you are a violent and irrepressible miracle.

2. POST VOID. post void is cool as shit and a really unique kind of shooter. you're given about 10 seconds of ever depleting life/health that can only be replenished by running forward and taking the life force of other enemies. its stressful and fast paced to all hell but for some reason i've come to love this weird new surfacing genre. stylistically, post void is very surreal and weird (core?) which i adore. lots of teeth and eyes.

3. DUSK. i was meaning to play dusk for a while because i love new blood games dearly (ultrakill my beloved. mwah.) and also david szymanski games, which this one is (IN 5 DAYS GOD IS COMING.) i've yet to complete it but it's very good, especially if you're a fan of doom style boomer shooters and demonic occult shit. can't say much until i complete it but it's worth a look. also that ost RULES.

4. WEBFISHING. everyone's played this, what do i even have to say. silly fish game and you get to be an equally silly low poly furry. what's not to love?

5. MOUTHWASHING. pretty interesting horror game overall, pleasantly surprised by how neat it was to play. normally i'd just watch markiplier or someone play through these types of short horror games, so it was nice to play one myself for a change. i think they handled the more serious themes of the game appropriately, which is always nice, even if the same can't always be said of the fandom. but yeah, cool game. didn't stick with me like it has with others though.

6. MULLET MADJACK. this is a game heavily inspired by the aforementioned post void in gameplay. as far as i can tell this and post void are pretty much the only ones of this genre out so far. very 90s anime inspired game that really doesn't take itself seriously, which i'm all for. just an overall fun game. epilogue end bit made me feel weird. thanks devs!

7. THE UPTURNED. i love this game so much its unreal. zeekerss knows how to make a silly horror game for realzies. dunno what to even say about this one, it's just really cool and fun. one of those games that just makes you happy. also i think i have romantic feelings for IK.

8. REGRETEVATOR. yeah we're ending with a roblox game, fuck you. this year i got to play a lot more of regretevator with a handful of my friends and i've grown to really enjoy it. it's got a lot of really neat minigames and artistic floors and just whimsical awesomeness. love all the little npcs too, my number one is probably folly, which despite her being a pretentious dick to everyone, she fits my vibe too well to not love. imo the game is more or less just a giant melting pot of different corners of the internet, so there's something in regretevator for everyone.

that's everything i can think of rn, if you read all of this then you're a real one. rest assured that if you just skipped to the end i only slightly think less of you. goofs and gaffs aside, i hope everyone has a wonderful 2025 because let's face it 2024 sucked balls. this is the year we get out shit together. hopefully. later, skaters. <3
