Thanksgiving: Feast or Prayer.

We were often taught on popular belief that Thanksgiving originated in Plymouth, Massachusetts as a feast between the Native Wampanoag tribe and the Pilgrims. However, it has been shown that's not it.

On the ship Margret, Captain John Woodlief and about 37 of his men traveled the heavy Atlantic ocean from Bristol, England to what is now known as Berkley Plantation in Virginia, just 20- 30 miles up from Jamestown. On December 4, 1619 as the ship arrived, Captain Woodlief and his men held their first service of Thanksgiving and thank God for their safe arrival.
While some claimed that there was a feast (bacon, cornmeal, cinnamon water, etc). Thanksgiving was mostly a day of prayer thanking God for their safety and health on their families and their children. and It was promised to thank God every year for our safety and health.
Fun Fact: Did you know that U.S President, John F. Kennedy was the only president to acknowledge Virginia as the birthplace of Thanksgiving even though he was a native to Massachusetts.
Anyway, stay safe y'all and have a great weekend.
