Hello!
As a christmas present from my sister, I got a book called Rebel Witch: Carve the Craft that's yours alone by Kelly-Ann Maddox. This book has some writing prompts that are supposed to make you ponder your own relationship with witchcraft. And I thought "Why not write some here?".
So here we go! ( I'm also translating these questions from finnish to english so they are not exact but you get the idea.)
1. For what different reasons could someone hesitate or be afraid to take the word "witch" to their own use or to describe themself?
The word witch has a lot of negative thoughts. Usually people think of evil magic and demons first or they think of the stereotypical green witch that dresses in black and has a broom. A lot of stuff that are typically witchy has been demonized because of christianity and such so it might seem scary to start using that word again. They might also think that people might think they are weird if they use that word to describe themself.
2. How does the word "witch" make you feel at this point in your life and why?
I feel like I have gotten more used to using it. Like couple years back I felt embarassed if I said to someone that I'm interested in witchy stuff. Now I usually say casually that I do witchy stuff like read from tarot cards and spells. Though I have noticed that I still don't usually say straight that I'm a witch I just usually say that I DO witchy stuff.
3. What do you think authentic witchcraft means?
I think it means that authentic witchcraft just means the typical spell casting, reading, studying and rituals. I think authentic witchcraft is just the things that we nowadays associate with the witches of today.
This was quite fun actually, so I might do this more!!! Thx for reading and have a magical day.
