Clock Tower Rewind: Review!

So I just finished my first playthrough of the new (ish!) port of Clock Tower, Rewind, and I already want to jump back in to it! As u can probably tell, I LOVED IT!!! I was a little worried going in2 it, being pretty old and with sum reviews saying it can be clunky, slow, etc. But let me tell u, the art direction, atmosphere, and just the general premise are all handled so well, I didn't mind any kind of slowness or jank. Along with that, wayforward or whoevr has done a lot to remedy those problems, successfully I think!

I really went in2 it like this is going to be so cool, but def not scary lol But omg I legit jumped up a little and had to turn lights on, multiple times! Srsly! (/ω\) I also really came to appreciate how restrained it is, how helpless you feel, and just the sense of dread it creates as you walk around thinking what on earth is going to happen next? Will scissorman pop out in this next room?!? It rlly gets to u! (゚A゚;) The limited controls also create that sense of dread/helplessness so I think keeping them is more than justified. It's like how ppl argue in favor of third person povs in survival horror, cuz of the ability for actual jumpscares and scripted horror moments to be pulled off, as opposed to when the player can just look whereevr.

Overall, I'm still kind of still in shock that this game got ported, not remastered and altered/broken (lookin at u Lollipop Chainsaw) not remade with an entirely new atmosphere (RE4...) but actually just preserved on2 new hardware. Rlly hoping that Twilight Syndrome or Haunting Ground gets ported next, (let me dream!!) Anyway, I can't recommend it enough, it's just so fun to experience sumthin so old, and it rlly holds up well. I bought it for $15 on sale on PS4, and for that price with the amount of replayability that is encouraged along with the multiple endings and random events, and the bonus content, I'm more than happy! Turn off the lights, hide all your scissors, and have fun!
