My blue bird (poem)

My blue bird

Oh mother,

The streets were always empty.

Just like my dad’s heart,

The streets were always empty.

I found a bird

It’s feathers were blue,

With an angelic voice it sang to my soul.

It reached for my heart,

I was lost in it’s eyes.

The bones in it’s body were broken,

Just like mine.

I kissed the stars in it’s eyes,

The sand in it’s bones.

The blue feathered soul was healed,

Yet I’m still stuck between the grains of the past.

I need to let the bird go.

Mother,

Will I find a soul as angelic as this one again?Β

My bird,

Can you stay for a bit longer?

I still want to dream.Β

I still wanna hold it close.

My bird,

My blue bird,

I saw your feathers glow under the sunΒ

As I watched you heading back to the ocean.
