heres my magic manifesto of truthfulness,, i wrote this on the spot so forgive me for any inconsistencies
How To Blend Styles
except I'm not 100% sure
So you've found yourself in horrible circumstances, where you cant decide on how you'll dress,,, I know that you don't have to restrict yourself blah blah blah but anyways yeah so I'm gonna try to explain how I blend styles together
1. Make a Venn diagram thing
so, okay, we have two styles that probably clash horribly, right? WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WRONG ABSOLUTELY WRONG ok anyways with enough digging you should be able to find similar things. For example, if you like emo and, I don't know, athleisure for some reason, make a venn diagram with outfits as examples to figure out what they have in common. Heres an example
You can add as many weird circle diagram things as you want. if you want, you can also just add things you think are cool but still could make sense. So, for example, I could want to keep the big hair emo has, the accessorizing, and like, charms(??). I promise it'll make more sense once you actually get the hang of it.
2. Make A Moodboard
this one I'm sure is simple enough for you all. go on Pinterest and make a moodboard of the two (or more) styles you've mixed together. Heres an example.
After a while, you should get to a point where the styles sort of just blend together. Pinterest has a crappy algorithm, though. So try to avoid picking too much of one type of look to add to your board for a bit.
3. Purchasing + Inspirations
You've gotten everything you've needed, except for the actual clothes. So, of course, you need some. Heres some places I recommend.
- Depop. You can get clothes for dirt cheap if they're from a popular brand (Example; brandy Melville, princess polly, etc). I know these aren't exactly the best picks for anyone who isn't going for a more pastel-y feminine look, but with enough effort I'm sure you can find something.
- Parent's clothes. Best thing in the world. No other words, just really good stuff half the time.
- Amazon (very rarely though) -- I know that this goes against everything ever in the world of everythingness, but if your in such dire need that you need new NEW clothes, amazon is an okay place. I wouldn't say to get actual clothes, maybe a few accessories and stuff. I don't mean to gatekeep, of course.
- Map out brands you like. This is the hardest part. I found a really cutesy shirt and I bought it, but it literally only sells clothes for 50 yr old women.
- DIY it. Okay, I'm gonna be SO honest, I've never D.I.Y'd any of my clothes really, since my mom won't teach me sewing for some reason. If you have the right supplies, don't be afraid to make the clothes. Better yet, just modify the clothes you already own.
Now that's out of the way, look for style inspirations. This part can be a bit tricky, but I promise that somehow, there'll be someone who has similar ideas. If this person does not exist, just be that person I guess?? Im, of course, not 100% sure like the smaller heading says but I think I'm great at fashioning. Okay, thanks for reading, and have fun shopping and whatever else you like doing, bye !
