Time and time again, I will come across the following proposal: Would you choose to live in a world where negative emotions (sadness, anger etc.) cease to exist? Time and time again, I say no.
Living in a constant state of joy is pretty much the same as a modern-day lobotomy, which doesn't sound fun at all. I appreciate the sadness and anger I feel, because it's what makes me human.
I'm always reminded of that one South Park episode. Butters cries on the curb because his girlfriend broke up with him, and Stan asks him to join him and the rest of the emos/goths/vampires/icantremember to rue the rest of their life. Butters declines, saying that these horrible emotions he feels are still precious to him, because it makes him, him.
I LOVE BUTTERS ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
