Learning Bass?

Hey guys. I'm kind of new to playing any instrument and I recently got a secondhand electric bass for christmas. 

Looking for tips for beginners. Don't really know anything yet and would like to learn. If anyone can tell me what I should get for it then I would appreciate it. I'm also looking for reccomendations for a decent amp; trying not to spend over a hundred bucks on one since i'm a huge noob. Just would like to practice. 

Right now I have a mitchell mb200.

If anyone has any tips for beginners or any setup recommendations I'm all ears. Unless you're one of those cocky assholes with a stick up their ass.
