I'm sorry, but I need to talk about this so badly. It's actually like clawing at my insides the way land of the lustrous deals with processing trauma and stuff like that is incredible and it's especially prevalent in phos because he's the main character right he's the one that we see go through a lot of trauma and the way he deals with this trauma isn't really the healthiest but he still heals from it but it's not like a perfect healing. He doesn't just go back to the same as he was and with every traumatic event, he loses a piece of himself quite literally and my favourite part about this from the anime as well is because pure phos's eyes in the beginning are large they're full of wonder and whimsy and curiosity and then after the winter arc they get smaller. They lose the curiosity for the world that they once had and the light in them is gone but that's only temporarily because he continues onwards and gets happier although never really forgetting what happened during winter ergo never going back to who he was but the small light in his eyes does return and I love that but his eyes still stay small.
