music blog ep. 1: lyricism vs sound

do you guys ever stop and think what kind of music actually sounds good to you? and I'm not talking genres here. do you find yourself liking better songs with deep, meaningful lyrics or stuff that just sounds good and hypes you up?

personally, even though I can go both ways, if I had to choose one or the other, I'd probably pick the second option. as of right now most of the music I listen to is just almost random gangsta shit splat over a hard ass beat (I'm very into homixide gang for example), as that kind of music gasses me up in a way even when I'm not doing anything in particular: I listen to carti and opium even when Im chilling on the couch or drawing some of my designs, sometimes bump von, or travis, or tracy in the morning while walking to the train station to go to school.

however, I too can appreciate a good lyricist when talking music. for example, talking rap, I sometimes find myself listening to some deeper Kanye West songs and actually focussing on the lyrics. outside of the rap music territory, not too long ago I was bumping Lana Del Rey and Tame Impala and kinda getting in my feels listening to the almost poetic words in the songs I played.

finally, to conclude, I would say that, for me at least, it kinda depends on my likings in a specific time period and that I don't really have a specific answer for this question. wbu?
