so, as a first actual post in my blog I wanted to talk about the (dying) trend of high waisted bottoms. first of all, if u like to dress in that typa thing, I'm not here to tell you not to: wear whatever u like or makes u feel comfortable, this blog is just my view on fashion.
anyway, right back to the script. I personally find high wasted garments to have just a weird shape in general and being unfitting for most of the people I've seen wearing them, as the usually tend to make people look shorter than they actually are and sometimes even a little chubbier (no hate obv, love all y'alls bodytypes fr). and while they can make already chubby people look thinner, they can also make a thinner person's body a weird all around shape. in comparison, low-waist pants and shorts seem to me to make people look taller and skinnier and I feel like the comeback they're recently making is definitely deserved: in my opinion, they elevate almost every outfit they're in and make it look more stylish.
not to talk about men's fashion: if high waisted jeans don't really look that good on a woman, I find them disastrous on a guy. I'm glad recent men's fashion has somewhat required us to wear pants at the same level where our hips are, as we look goofy with them anywhere else (I'm looking at you, with your pants under your ass cheeks).Β
In conclusion, PLEASE bring low waisted pants (and especially shorts) back into the mainstream definitely, y'all look so much better!!Β
P.S. please don't take anything I just said too seriously. my opinions do not matter in the grand scheme of things and should not matter regarding what you like to wear. as I already said, wear whatever you like or matches your bodytype.Β

I agree that low-rise looks amazing, however I think it depends on the composition of the outfit itself. Most of the time it's just choosing the right pieces & colors etc.
Body shape definitely does play a part as well on what compliments it.

Agreed. As a matter of fact, all of the pants and leggings I own are low rise, and I wear skirts at the same level I wear things like jeans (keep in mind that some of the skirts I own are technically "lingerie" skirts as those seem to be the only low rise skirts made in this day and age, but I make them work with my outfits and it helps that I always put them over leggings anyways).
For this reason, I buy medium sized studded belts as opposed to extra small studded belts (as someone who is normally a size xxs/xs in clothing), as a medium sized belt is large enough to wrap around my pelvis (I seem to have a slim lower hourglass/pear shaped figure), which makes belt shopping easier compared to shopping for actual clothing, especially with how vanity sizing in this day and age seems to be pushing those of us with smaller frames out of the sizing range and how extra small women like myself are usually and increasingly ignored by clothing manufacturers.
I REFUSE to ever wear high waisted anything ever again after briefly doing so around late 2020 - early 2021 as a woman with sensory issues around the stomach, a general preference for all things low and ultra low rise, and now a belly button piercing (which I've had since 5/22/2023). You can pry my low rise skinny jeans from my cold, dead hands, rawr.
iconic. as a man, I don't really find myself having this problem as high-rise men's pants were luckily never really a thing (not in my experience at least). however, I solve the problem sagging everything I own lol. anyway, I really don't get what it is lately with fashion and high waisted stuff: they've been trending for so long its getting pretty exhausting. seeing them everywhere, especially worn by people who are not really into fashion, is starting to bore me incredibly.
