Someone didn't read my comment on this. So I'm proving that top blog posts are based ENTIRELY on number of views by making this post and slapping a ton of views on it. Please don't kudos, it's part of the proof.
Edit: Best 40 minute waste of my time ever while too caffeinated. Already on page one of top entries.
Final edit and result:
One hour, mostly of clicking continue reading, blog, continue reading, blog... while having a conversation about food.
Zero comments, zero kudos, fourth post from the top on top blog entries.
Rank seems to update anywhere between 10 and 15 minutes.
And they can be edited to say something else afterwards, as this one has.
So yes, anyone can cheat and put views on their own posts to make it in the top entries. It probably needs to change.

I always thought it was based on kudos/comments and others but this just proofs it all wrong, and the fact that it's still there ater 17 days is crazy too
Agreed. I thought about deleting this, but want everyone to know so that the select few who saw it in a short time can't have an advantage. Lol. There should definitely be time limits less than 20 days.

This blog is also proof that there should be a time limit or something, maybe based on how long it's been since the last comment/kudos and how old the blog is. It doesn't make sense for a blog to be on the front page for a month when no one is actually interacting.
Agreed. It should be like a week tops. In fact, this is the most practical single change if they don't want to change anything else.

I wish they'd maybe put filtering where you can choose whever you want to see most kudos, or views, but I'd just settle for sorting by kudos, dont see much point in it being sorted by views.

this has 11 kudos as I'm writing this comment. I can confirm that this blog has 0 kudos before it hits the top blogs. IMO the algorithm here need to change. also there should be a sorting function added with how old, top performing, or newest when picking a particular topic.
I propose an algorithm that tags posts as a subject matter, and that the subject matter with the least number of posts becomes the highest posts, effectively making unique entries the top posts. Quite literally the opposite of Facebook.

You were right lol, this post is one of the first things you see on the blog tab still somehow. Though I'd rather have what the have now algorithm wise compared to something like insta or twitter that doesn't mean its perfect at all, there should be some other factor other than views that determines the quality of a blog, maybe kudos should be involved
