entry 005

i was looking up the lyrics to seven by sunny day real estate and reading over them because i couldn't really hear most of them properly haha and they're rly poetic actually????? this verse in particular:

'The mirrors lie, those aren't my eyes

Destroy them, raise my hand

Reflected in savage shards

A new face, a soul reborn.'

i think the lyrics rly portray how it is to feel lost or disconnected from urself. the mirrors show the person isn't aligned with the external perception of their self, and i believe the 'eyes' show a distortion in how that person views their identity and self worth.

it's the process of breaking away from the false image (possibly through destruction or trauma), that leads to jagged, fragmented pieces of the person’s former self. these 'savage shards' could represent painful truths or realizations.

it shows someone who's over that illusion, wants to destroy it and break free from the masks they wear. they find a new identity - one that's real and raw. it's like a rebirth, shedding their old self and coming out as their true self. i haven't researched any real intended meaning of this song/these lyrics in particular, it's just my opinion haha...... fellow sunny day real estate fans pls add me!!!!!
