My favorite album this week has been I'm Going to Kill Myself by Black Sheep Wall.
TW: suicide
Black Sheep Wall is a sludge band from Los Angeles (more of a Chat Pile style of sludge then a Crowbar style) I'm Going To Kill Myself runs for about an hour and has four tracks. This album is bold, angry, and even sickening at times. It's a one of a kind album and I don't think I will ever find anything that is able to remotely compare to the sound this album has. It's sludgy, it's doomy, and even has some grind and deathcore elements.
The last track on this album, "Metallica" is from the perspective of a man named Jon who is going to kill himself. The start of the song describes Jon waking up and watching his wife leaving for work. The rest of the song is a reading of his suicide note. The last lines of the song/album really illustrate the tone of the album:
If you ask me, it's a miracle I've made it this far
My greatest achievement is waking up 14,000 days in a row
While pictures may inspire deceit
I'm already as dead as I'll be in five minutes
Say what you want, but take my guidances to consideration:
If they call me brave, remember that I was weak, I was weak
And if they call me careless, be honored I took the time to write the note
Just don't ever call me special, special, special, special
I'm going to kill myself
9/10
