impact of beth's death [twd]

episode 8, season 5 twd is rough rough rough

the death of beth was so :(( you could see the light draining from maggie and daryl's eyes, but ESPECIALLY daryl (i will touch on maggie in a second);; i think this really changed the trajectory of twd and their eye for humanity after this. i think whats worse is that beth died SO gruesomely, unlike getting stabbed in the gut or thrown off a cliff or something, she got SHOT right through the skull, though thats probably better, poor beth didn't have to suffer the reality her life is ending so i think thats a purposeful move

everyone knows that this was the moment daryl started to lack his compassion in people, and in general became kind of like rick, because he finally understood how it felt to lose someone. OBVIOUSLY he was ruined when merle died, but i think beth's death was significantly worse because she was the beam of light for everyone in the group, and genuinely carried a portion of season 4 & back bc of how she took care of judith, etc. he changed forever here, and lowkey not to get too sidetracked, but the way he kind of got his "spark" back in daryl dixon, his spinoff is somewhat reminiscent of beth--laurent is so full of life, joy and hope and is a kid, like beth who looked up to him. beth didn't really Look up to daryl like that, but they were together and she gave daryl some hope and compassion, kind of like what laurent did. her and daryl only spent that time post prison era so closely, and daryl already was going to risk his life for her, just like how he'd only known laurent for such a little amount of time, but was going to fight until his grave for laurent. beth was daryl's beacon of hope, and after she died, that part of him died. laurent somewhat revived it, i think.

sorry caryl is speaking in my ear, i cant imagine how daryl would change as a person if carol died. he would literally become rick, maybe even worse, if she died because then he would have nothing and no one!!

anyway, the death of beth genuinely changed everyone and LETS NOT FORGET ABOUT MAGGIE!!! i think people focus on how beth's death impacted daryl but maggie?? that was the last of her blood she truly knew and loved until she was killed off too, so she has no one aside from glenn which we all know doesn't last for very long... i wish people focused on maggie more, she lost everyone and i mean i really can't imagine how she felt

i've seen some people say that she kind of forgot about beth during season 5, and when she was gone she didn't seem to "gaf" and tried to heal and move on with the whole eugene to d.c escapade, but i don't think it's that simple. i think with how persistent she was that glenn was alive post-prison era, despite all the clues indicating that he was dead + everyone else telling her to give up, and that he was likely dead, yet ultimately found glenn despite everyone's doubts, might have given her fortunate hope that the cards would align and the same lucky fate would reach her little sister too. sadly it didn't :((( she was blind-sighted, and i feel so bad for my baby maggie

i'm probably gonna binge the rest of s5 and maybe some of s6 tonight! i like yapping in here, i don't really have anyone else to talk to about my inner rambles, let alone about twd so :) super glad i can just talk into the empty space here about my thoughts post episodes

btw the fact carol and daryl have always been behind one another when someone they cared for dies (sophia, beth, (connie's kinda diff she didn't actually die but ???) & henry etc). they're ALWAYS there for one another, i cannot wait for season 3 daryl dixon

im gonna die AUGGh
