hey! this is moreso a vent post about posting art online than about my actual art, so, sorry?
anyways i really miss the old deviantart when it wasn't mainly ai slop and fetish art, i think it used to be the best place to post your work and it wasn't really about followers and favorites as much (imo), nowadays it's virtually unusable
twitter was ok but the only time i really got noticed by anyone was when i was very active in a fandom i'm not really apart of anymore, and i don't participate in discord servers like i used to, now whenever i post art, nobody ever sees it because the algorithm doesn't push it and i don't wanna continually beg my friends to share my stuff to their feeds
tumblr is still pretty decent but the interactions you do get just aren't the same, you'll get a like and and reblog if you're lucky but people don't really yap in your tags anymore, it's just not as fun, people have become more reclusive and i definitely understand maybe they just wanna be mindful and not clog the notifs, but the flavor is lacking so much
forget instagram, i've completely dumped that app
tiktok was alright (aside from the negativity and drama) but then the algorithm changed and my art was shown less and less until eventually i stopped posting there as well
dealing with social media has almost completely killed my motivation to draw in general, why does sharing art have to be a competition?
on top of it all, i'm disabled, i have a chronic illness on top of having adhd, so i'm just not able to post or draw consistently like most people would, i can barely keep up with any algorithm anymore
so yeah, i might just be done with the majority of the modern social media apps in general, maybe i'm just better off posting to forums like here and reddit
i'm also looking at youtube as my next possible destination to share art, but i got low hopes, i also thought about streaming, i just miss genuine interaction more than anything

Okay so this is just gonna be a big glob of complaining but this is so unbelievably accurate. The best luck I've had posting art was on tumblr, but that was in hyper specific fandoms that are basically non-existent so like, three people would get really excited that someone was even IN the fandom. And the most you can get from that is just like an "omg cool!!!". The reactions have just gotten so bland to the point that there's just no reason to do it anymore. DeviantArt was great because it was a space literally dedicated to art, it was where artists of all different levels of experience could go with the intention of posting, seeing, and talking about art. On other sites now it just seems like a passing thought to say something nice (or very much NOT nice) and then move on. And don't even get me started about the fact that you're art has to be basically 10+ years drawing, god-level skill, or you just get pity compliments like "don't listen to the hate! you're doing awesome!!", which continues to encourage only super experienced artists to post and beginners to be way too self-conscious to.
