Hi everyone, I'm new on here and this is my very first entry.
Recently, I've been seeing some people from several social media platforms get very specific tech devices that were popular during the 2000s and 2010s. People are getting digital cameras, video cameras, mp3 and mp4 players, CD readers and they're even goign back to flip phones.
My thoughts on this are that yes, nostalgia sells and we all enjoy re-experiencing what caracterised our childhood, but I believe this 'trend' goes beyond that.
Nowadays, life feels boring, we have everything we could need on our smartphones, available 24/7. The idea of having especially conceived devices for each one of the actions we want to take, let it be listen to music or take a pic, becomes gratifying, maybe because we put effort into doing so. Every action becomes then more tangible taking us back to the beginning and to what used to be the norm while making a difference. Buying this products has become an action of freeing ourselves, claiming our independance from today's crazy lifestyles that are centered around the hyper-smart devices.
Furthermore, it is also true that with the rise of a desire to stop overexposing ourselves on socials and basically stop giving away our information for almost every single action we take online, going back to the roots that promised a much more attractive future seems to be a perfect solution.
Mind you, this is just something I've been having in mind and is my opinion. Please feel free to add to this or to disagree. I would love to read your insight on the topic.
