Living With An Attention-Seeking Friend (Not You Trust)

Ok. So I have this old friendgroup from my middle school. Every single one of them is really nice. The school we came from was really puritan and any small spat was automatically blown up by our principal so we learned to be really, really nice. We grew out of it around 7th and 8th grade, because if you're still imperfect by then, the principal just gives up on you. Obviously "imperfect" doesn't mean ur a bad person, just that you aren't literally a saint. Like, come on. I'm a teenager, I'm gonna swear and do dumb shit. But that's an issue for another discussion.

There is a SINGULAR friend from that school (I'll call her Maria) I genuinely cannot stand to be around. Our parents are all friends, so I can't just stop being friends with her. But. Maria ticks me off. I've ranted to my friends about this before, so Ash and Crim if ur reading this, it's just a review for yall ig. Anyway. Maria wants to be different SO BAD. I swear, she only wants my approval because I got bullied and she didn't, so she has some savior complex where she's doing a "good deed" by talking to me. She grasps at anything "different" about herself to seem like a person who isn't literally a carbon copy of the one next to her.

Anyway. The other day, I went to see Wicked with the aforementioned friendgroup. AMAZING movie btw. After it was finished, my friends and I were singing the whole way out the theatre. We eventually went to go eat, so I put the soundtrack in my headphones. Maria gets a glimpse of my phone (she looks over at my screen often it pisses me tf off) and sees that I'm listening to the newer version. She starts yapping onandonandon about how the soundtrack is better and that I should listen to it. LIKE MAYBE I DONT WANT TO LISTEN TO IDINA MENZEL. And when I refuse, she rolls her eyes and calls me BASIC 😭 LIKE WHOOO?? She wears Lulu Lemon and listens to TAYLOR SWIFT. Like who are you even talking to....

She's done multiple other awful things like tell me I look better as a woman and should stay that way, that I can't hate myself because I'm skinny, among other things.... that's really it tho end of rant :3
