BlueSky vs Threads?

When I first discovered BlueSky, I was really excited to discover an app that resembled pre-Musk Twitter.  I liked the fact that I could control what content I would see by muting and blocking people who have nothing better to do than espouse hateful right-wing vitriol.  I also liked the fact that the product isn't from Meta.  As time went on, however, I've been disliking that I can't make my BlueSky profile private, if I wanted to.  As a result, I can't control who follows me. I also can't just remove a follower.  In fact, it's my understanding, that even if I block a particular follower, while they can't see my content nor I see theirs, they are not removed as one of my followers.  I don't think I like this federated (is that the right word?) style of social media apps. It sort of reminds me of Mastodon (which is one reason I got rid of my Mastodon account).

Threads, on the other hand, even though it's a Meta product, I seem to be able to have more control over it. I can even make my Threads account a private profile if I want to.  As a result I think I'm starting to like Threads better.  Which one do you prefer?
