We all love and breath for Spotify wrapped for each year, right?
But like idk I can't be the only one who has realised how false Spotify wrapped is? LIKE not only this year, but last year I noticed it too? Like, they last year mainly focused on early of the year like January to May??? My music taste changed a bit last year and note I use Spotify ALWAYS (when sleeping, at school, with family, playing games and anything you can think of) so like imbalance of Spotify usage shouldn't be the issue??? And like this year the same issue?? LIKE how are some of the songs on the top 5 songs??? LIKE Come As You Are by Nirvana, I lit have listened to Dumb, Lithium, Sliver, Downer and School more than CAYA??? Same with like why is Beachboy by McCaffetry in there, like I only listen to it sometimes.. and I have lit listened to other songs more than it? LIKE I have listened to Trees by the same artist more than that song? I mean hey at least P3T by Femtanyl made to the top 5, but where is Crack Baby by Mitski? I have listened to that song SO MANY TIMES LIKE OMG. Like there is so many things wrong on the top 5 artists/songs. And I haven't even talked about the "Your Top Songs 2024" playlist Spotify made...
It literally lacks some of the songs that would have expected to be in there, but that's not the issue here? The issues is that there is songs that I do not listen to/last time heard in like 2021-2023 or rarely listen to... like what are (examples) Jealous by Eyedress, Kitty City by Cyriak Harris and Alien Blues by Vundaba doing there???
Sure I might be just salty and looking too much to this- I mean Spotify Wrapped is just made for fun, right? Like why should it matter, because it does not. It just hurts emotionally seeing it being wrong. Sure it could be because of the AI they're using to put everyone's year wrap together, but like they have a ton of money so like why can't they at least get better AI for this? IDKK I should just touch the snow atp.
BUT LIKE I CAN'T BE THE ONLY ONE WHO IS BOTHERED BY THIS??? Everyone seems to be alright with their SW and the playlist? Am I jst sounding insane for complaining LMAO.

Something just changed this year. I never liked the idea of Wrapped anyway considering it's limited to one site I'll likely switch away from at some point + the only time you get an insight on your taste is at the end of the year. It's just a gimmick that you could easily get elsewhere. :/
As for inaccurate stats, it seems to be a common thing. Apparently there's a cutoff around November where stats don't count, so that might be part of it, but aside from that it seems this year they just really fucked with it and it resulted in a mess like this. Companies messing with well known and well liked features as always. It seemed to only have started this year, apparently.
For anybody looking for alternative ways to look into their listening history, I use last.fm and it's really good for what it is! There's a good unofficial Discord bot for it too if you're looking for more reasons to use it. For specifically Spotify users, stats.fm is a Spotify only alternative that might be of help, though I don't use it.
