Gymnastics Dream with Trisha Paytas

Ok background: I am a former competitive gymnast who used to be in the gym 25 hours a week. I quit after my second year of level 9 back in 2019. I often have dreams about going back.

Ok so in this dream, I was with all of my old teammates and we were conditioning at the stall bars. I wasn’t planning on doing gymnastics again, but I was doing relatively well with my conditioning so I thought, why not? I go to floor where my old coach was and she was like, you’ve got a lot to catch up on missy, and you have a new teammate. And it was fucking Trisha Paytas. She didnt really speak to me as she was practicing her tumbling. So it was like a month from meet season so everyone was practicing their routines full out while I was tumbling into the resi. 

Its Trisha’s turn to go. Trisha has mats all over the floor and for some reason shes got props?? There’s a bunch of rules in gymnastics regarding mats on the floor for tumbling, and those rules applied in my dream (but they were the wrong rules lmao) We basically had to move the mats off the floor as quickly as possible after they were used. The mat I needed to move was after her first tumbling pass. So I get ready.

Her music starts and she begins. All i remember about the music was that it was very fast pace and like a fierce music. She does her first pass which was a fucking front handspring rudi to a DOUBLE BACK?!?!?!? Im standing there shocked as FUCK because that was INSANE. Anyways I missed the mat cause im too stunned to move and trisha has to dance on the mat. My coach was like KATE YOURE MESSING HER UP, ITS A GOOD THING SHE CAN ADAPT WELL. oops?

Anyways I move the mat once she gets off it. She does her leap pass (i dont remember what it was) to the next corner where my other teammate was watching from. I join her and go to cheer on trisha. Her next pass was just a punch front double full. Color me impressed. Im like “YEAH TRISH LETS GO” and everyone kinda looks at me funny. my teammate who im next to informs me that she goes by robin now? Ok…?

So then she moves to the next corner to do her final pass. Everyone’s screaming “CMON ROBIN, LETS GO ROB, YOU GOT IT ROB”, and she pulls out a roundoff  back handspring double pike. Damn I am so impressed. That was insane. And she fucking nailed it. My coach gives her some feedback and we continue practicing. Trisha was the last one to go and we had some extra time at the end of floor to just do whatever really. 

During her routine, I noticed that the prop she used (a microphone) in between her leap pass and 2nd pass had a malfunction. She had to either grab it off the floor or have someone chuck it to her and she had to toss it back once she finished. She didnt catch the prop when it was thrown to her and when she tried to throw it back, she just kind of flung it and it went flying across the gym. So Im like, let me fix this…

I rig up a fishing rod, throw the line over the ac vent system on the ceiling, and tie the microphone to it. Im like, “hey everyone, i fixed this problem!” my coach was like, Kate i love the support for your new teammate, but this will never work! And Trisha was like, well it just might! So she goes to do a dance through (which is where you do your routine but dont tumble). When the time comes to use the prop, I drop the line and she catches it perfectly. Then once she finished, the threw it straight up as i reeled in. 

It was perfect. That was the end of the dream

Usually my dreams about gymnastics are lowkey nightmares cause i am just thrown into the sport again and everyone is just yelling at me, but this one was pretty funny. Usually I try to get my roommates to interpret my dreams (2 of them are psych majors lol) so if any of yall feel like trying to interpret this, please go ahead. I have crazy ass dreams all the time and can definitely share more lmao.
