Started and finished the book Radiance by Grace Draven yesterday. I really enjoyed it! And am happy to hear there's a sequel and collection of short stories set in the same world. Other than a few confusing punctuation choices and a missing article here and there, the line work was nicely done. Very refreshing and easy to follow in a way that led my curiosity along as I learned how Miss Grace's world works. I am interested in trying her other works as well.
Things that heavily annoy me in reading experiences were missing, and sometimes purposefully excluded, from this book. Thank god! Miscommunication, too vague an understanding of time passed, and a [out-of-place] possessiveness in the masculine love interest will not be found in this book! Ildiko and Brishen are charming characters to follow, and it was no hardship to root for them. They have a chemistry and relationship path that are believable and fun to read. I look forward to seeing how they face the upcoming challenges together in the next book.
Speaking of challenges and next book, that epilogue threw me for a loop! I was put a little off balance by the whole thing until the final sentence, when I realized where the rest of the path is headed. Very intriguing~ I hope we get to see the story - and world - through Anhuset's and Lord Pangion's eyes as well (I really like them), although it will be no surprise if we don't get their POVs until the short stories, or at all.
I liked this book so much I want to buy a physical copy of it and its sequel for my bookshelf.
