I will give you an example of two personality descriptions, one as a list of adjectives, and one with some more detail, and I'll let you spot the differences. For the sake of the argument, we'll call this hypothetical oc "Maxine".
Description 1: Friendly, excitable, adventurous, brave, gullible
Description 2: Maxine is an extroverted girl who loves talking to new people and makes friends easily. She's very easily excited, and loves to try new things. Maxine has never been afraid of the unknown, and sees opportunity in it, wanting to explore any interesting place she lays her eyes upon. However, Maxine has a tendency to believe anything she's told, which often ends up leaving her confused once it turns out to be untrue.
Looking at these two descriptions, it's not hard to see which one is more effective. Description one lists Maxine's traits, but that's all it does. It gives you a vague idea of who Maxine is, but it doesn't really tell you that much about her. The second description, however, takes those adjectives and expands upon them. Not only do we get a real idea of what type of person Maxine is, but we can also see how she acts. It makes her feel a lot more alive.
Now I am aware, that as a beginner, it may seem intimidating to have to expand on your oc's personality, and I fully understand that. However, try to push yourself just a little bit. If it doesn't end up working out for you, by all means, you can put the pencil down and come back when you're ready. But it's better to try and not be able to do something than it is to just never try at all. And who knows, you might be good at it!!
You don't have to write an essay about your oc - nobody is expecting you to do that. But see if you can write just a little bit more about them. I'm sure looking online you'll be able to find tools that'll help you if you're really struggling.
TLDR; There's no shame in writing a list of personality traits, however it doesn't tell us a lot about your oc - if you can, try to give a few more details, even if it's only one sentence per trait. It'll make a lot of difference ^^
