Sometimes i'm going on the browse tab to try and find some new friends i could speak to! but one thing that turns me off is if that person has like...300 friends..
now idk abt u, but talking to 300 friends extremely often or even having a close relationship with them is.. ACTUALLY VERY HARD? AND EXTREMELY UNLIKELY. it mainly drives me away because i feel like i'm just another needle in that haystack, they have AL THOSE FRIENDS, what gives them any incentive to speak with me?
its why i try to keep my friendslist clean and specific, sure, it'll be a small number, and the more the merrier right? I beg to differ. i always would rather have quality over quantity, and if i were to have 254 friends, and like talk to just 6? HECK NO, whats the point? i'd rather have 6 who are very close and fun, and i talk to them weekly! ^_^
maybe this post comes off as mean, and im just crazy strict abt who i friend, but am i the only person that finds this weird? >_<

Some people have their reasonings for this and that's okay but there's people with like upwards of thousands of people??? At one point there was a dude with like 20k people added, especially anybody who exists just to promote music because they have upwards of thousands if they're really common
YAA ive noticed there can b reasons for having a lot, but those music artists are like... VERY ANNOYINGGG!!!
i first assumed they were just bots, and some are, but you'll Friend request them back and theyll start commenting on ur profile and just like...they feel like bots
i remember a few months back there was someone called perty the musician or smthn and they would friend ALL THE PARODY ACCS I MADE it was so annoying...

They usually ARE bots, they care about getting Spotify plays and not about interacting. They repeatedly send requests until either you block the account or you cave in and accept. They literally just exist to amass friends and attention, because the more people view those accounts, the more likely they will make a name for themselves. I hate it with all of my gut and basically everybody has complained about them already.
And this will happen for every. account. ever. made.
There's a grey area with people like myself that are musicians but don't use SpaceHey to actively advertise, some people don't like them but others are usually okay if you're also actively interacting. This is kind of why I don't make it obvious because considering how bands go on this site, bot requests and get a bunch of shit is crazy. I get that MySpace had a lot of bands but this really isn't the way to do that. You'll make an audience over time just by doing what you like.
For everybody else, it really just depends on intention and it's complicated. Some people might actually regularly see such people often, some just want the number to go up like their follower count, some just have a few close friends added and kind of just let everybody else sit. It's strange. This is a weird site.

Weird site AGREED, sure, you can post about your band and what not...but like...ACTUALLY POST AND INTERACT?? many just friend request and have infrotmation about their band on their profile, and SURE, we'll see it and KNOW YOU, but it feels so....so....
DEAD, and theres no personality!
there are better ways to advertize your band, just ACTUALLY feel like a person! and not a LIFELESS BOT! >_<

it is dead :( i make occasional posts about demos i'm working on but that's just because i really like posting about stuff i'm working on, not to promote any specific release
even then that's not the only thing i'm posting about, i didn't join just to be a walking ad

I usually mass-add a ton of people, but overtime, I filter out the dead accounts. I've noticed that's the only way to actually find people on this website without already knowing them from other websites, which is pointless when most of my frens are already on obscure websites and inactive on SpaceHey. For my best frens here, I add them to the favorites list so I know not to clear them out by accident. As of now, I have over 90 people added here, but am thinking of clearing the list out soon because already there is a ton of people who just dropped off in terms of activity, so, to keep the list sane looking, I'll keep only those active and those who are already good-frens.
YEAHH!! this makes sense and i see whatchu mean, as long as ur keeping it organized and checked up on, i understand :3

ye.
If they haven't been on at all in 1 month and they have basically no posts, they're just a dead account for sure unless you know them from elsewhere. If they haven't been online in 3 months but there's some posts, then they're likely now a mostly dead account unless you know they're just busy IRL. 3 months is generally enough time that those in school or working will *eventually* go online, while not so long that the clearing-method doesn't work. If I added people in online games more, I'd probably have to do something similar for XBL, Steam, etc.

this is why I'm leaving the site, all my actual friends stopped talking to me one moved to blue sky, the other Is always on tumblr, no one interacts anymore. I kinda just give up on why friend collectors exist.
:( thats really true, when i first joined spacehey like a few month ago (Using a parody account) i didn't uncderstand the concept of friend collectors, and it made me think that ppl just didn't like me or somethgn. i know better now, but still, it suchs to have that "more the merrier" mindset, when really, what matters MOST is those super close friendships you create on the site! ^_^
