heyyyyyy, i want to make this kinda like my book entry blog where i just write down which books i intend to read and then once i finish reading them i'll write here my opinions on it^^ i think it would be really fun if u guys also shared ur reading :D ps. kinda spoilers ahead hehe

today i bought two new books that im really interested in reading^^ one is the vegeterian by han kang (since it won the nobel prize in literature i got curious to read it myself!) and also punizione by giovanni finadaca, italian criminal law professor, who questions the efficiency of incarceration as a response to crimes
i still need to finish breasts and eggs but its been so long (heh.. fnaf) since i last picked it up so i think i should read it from the beginning again
i'm not a reader at all but i want to change this! maybe i'll read the vegeterian first since its shorter and then once i get in the flow i'll pick up breasts and eggs again^^

this sudnay i read a bit of the vegeterian, here r my thoughts so far:
the writing from the persepctive of the husband, mr. cheong, is really interesting but at the same time frustrating: this is a man who right off the bat explains he doesnt like his wife and is not interested in her. he says he married her because she is just so ordinary. having him narrate the story leaves u, the reader, with so many questions unasnwered because he simply cannot be bothered to understand truly what is going on with his wife (the protaognist, yeong-hye) and so we just read these scenes in which only things he cares about is his image his needs how yeong-hye is humilaiitng him etc. it is very clear what kind of man he is from the very first page and yet the more i read the more speechless i was for his behaviour.
there r sections where we get to read yeong-hye's perspective and i found these bits intriguing, the imagery is very vivid and sometimes even grotesque but despite that i still cant quite get what it is that is suffocating her being so much.. my only theoryso far is that she cant stand for this life of indifference that she conducted for all these years, but i recognize this is a very elementary conclusion so i figure there's much more to it.... and im curious to find out!!
