Some Anti-Catholic Sentiment

It's funny that the Roman Catholic Church forbade the translation of the texts that make up the Bible, as though they didn't want people to learn the truth for themselves. No... knowledge is power and the Roman Catholic Church had (and still HAS) much of that. I loved the movie Luther, as it so aptly portrays just how corrupt the church had become in Martin Luther's time - the sale of indulgences to the ignorant (and often poor) masses, claiming that these pieces of paper would guarantee entry into heaven or even could be presented to save the soul of a loved one from damnation. How sick and sad that those wolves in sheep's clothing would pervert their position as shepherds of the people. Nevermind the more recent corruption amongst the priests of the Catholic Church.

I'd just like to point out that I don't hate Catholics, mind you. I just happen to feel very passionately about the errors they've made and still make today. I feel that they do much to separate people from God when all that is required for salvation is to establish a personal relationship with Jesus, by reaching out to Him with your heart and asking Him to enter your life. To believe in Him and put your trust in Him. The only way to do that though is to get to know who He was and to do that, you'd have to start by picking up a Bible and reading His words in the New Testament. That's not to say you shouldn't read the Old Testament though. That's essential to know how God came to establish His relationship with the Jews, the very same people from which Jesus came into being. I personally love the book of Proverbs. It never fails to convict me and set me on the right path. I'd encourage anyone to start there.
