I have had two ducks for about a year, and they were both really young. One is brown(cookie) and the other was yellow(Cream). A couple of days ago Cream died because she was attacked by something, and Cookie has been really depressed lately. He won't eat, and we had to bring him inside the house so he doesn't get lonely, but you can still tell he's upset. He won't eat much, and I don't know how to get him to eat. He's probably so confused since his best friend is dead, or maybe he doesn't even know Cream is dead and thinks Cream is just gone? He is still devastated either way and I can only provide him comfort with my company

im so sorry for your loss:( im no duck expert by any means but i´ve had ducks for a few years now and i know for a fact they are NOT solitary animals, ducks usually bond with each other and the loss of one in the pair can hurt them very much:( maybe introducing a new friend (or two) could help him? i know my own ducks would be lost without the other or without their chicken friends so im wishing you and cookie the best!

Thank you, we have been keeping Cookie inside of the house and having him be around people and our other pets so he feels less lonely. We are planning on getting him a new friend During Spring, and he's doing a lot better ️
