the beetlejuice sequal was mid (spoilers)

Listen, I'm a big Beetlejuice fan. It's one of my comfort movies, but the sequal was honestly- ass.

I'm not saying there wasn't anything good about it, The actors did great and the effects were amazing, but the overall plot just felt so dumb and completely different from the original. I don't mind when sequals add new characters, keeps the plot interesting. But since when did Beetlejuice fall in love with some random soul sucking lady?? And don't even get me started on that boy who got with Astrid. It was SO obvious he was a twist villian, he was way too goody two shoes, and the whole "omg he actually murdered his parents and wants to steal Astrid's life" is sooo dumb. He's just such a two dimensional character, nothing interesting or special enough about him. He just made me mad more than anything, not because he was a villian, but because he barley had any depth. Why did he want to murder his parents? Why was he so evil?? It would have made him SO much more interesting if they clarified why.

Ooh, and the guy that was dating Lydia, hate his ass. You could literally tell from the beginning he was a piece of shit. And that's what I feel like this movie did the most wrong, they tried too hard to get you to hate him and think "wow this guys an asshole". I feel like all of these new characters, minus Astrid, need more DEPTH. Rather than just "haha look this guys a piece of shit" or "wow this guy is so evil". like ugh

I really did want to like the sequal, but it just felt so cliche and boring compared to the original. This is all just my opinion though, take it with a grain of salt.
