Hey, just wanted to pop in and say that with the difficult semester finally being over, I only have to wait a few more days until I get the official final grades in my classes.
This semester I took Geometry Concepts for Teachers, Principles of Physical Science, Lifespan Development Psychology, Introduction to Special Education, Introduction to Art.
I'm horrible with math, so when I saw that I had to take three math classes to get this degree (miscellaneous math, such as Statistics (which I passed with a 95 the first semester of college under a different major)... geometry concepts and number concepts.) I regretted my decision. I may have passed Statistics and it may have counted as I changed the major but more math classes? I'm horrible at Math! Nothing sticks in my head! I just wanted to teach second graders! They don't have to do geometry. Or algebra. Or calculus. Or trig.
I can predict that I'll have either a D or a C in that class. I'll find out soon.
In Principles of Physical Science, I got a final grade of the letter A, which was said in my gradebook. I love science, but Physical Science was a lot of math.. gosh. Must everything have math?
Lifespan Development Psychology... this one I don't know for sure. I had a 54 on the first test, 72 on the second, 91 on the final and 100 on my personal paper. We were supposed to do another paper but he cancelled it, however I don't think he even put in a grade or removed it, which means it'll show up as a zero in the gradebook, and if its that way, then I have a 63.6% (o.o) I also had 8 extra credit points so... that would be applied to the precentage, which brings it up to 71.6%. However, he marked it onto my final exam paper that he graded in class as soon as I was done and said I have an average of a 100. I don't know what to say? What to think? Without the second paper that he cancelled, my grade (without the +8 points) is 79.5%. With the +8 added, it's a 87.5%. This was his last semester teaching, he turned in his keys yesterday. 54 years teaching in a school and college.
Introduction to Special Education was an interesting class. I passed the final, and have an A average in class so its obvious my final grade will likely be the letter A.
Introduction to Art... as of right now I have an average of the letter A, but due to exhaustion and burnout, I didn't do the three 500-word papers to describe different art medias. I passed all the exams and I did all the assignments except for those 500-word papers. I did the final paper (750 words minimum) because if I didn't do it I would fail, according to the instructions, no matter what my present grade was in the class. I think I'm gonna have a B average.
ps. Grade calculation is done by adding up all the given grade total over the possible grade total, aka Mean/Average Mean. Then multiply the result by 100.
For the grades I had in Lifespan Development Psychology, it would look like:
54+74+91+100+0 / 500 = .636 x 100 = 63.6%
Explanation: 54 to 0 are the given grades out of the possible maximum grades earned, of which is the 500 because there were 5 assignments and each were 100 points maximum.
In conclusion, I don't know. SPED and Physical Science will likely be marked as an A. Lifespan and Art and Geometry... I have no idea.
