I still don’t understand the discourse between lab grown gemstones, why would anyone want something MORE expensive just for the sake of it? The day I learned about Moissanites I was like woah, it’s sparklier, cheaper, and involves no child labor? How gorgeous! But someone will pop up and tell you about how they’re fake because they’re not natural..I don’t really understand why people want to pay more for the same product. You’re not being sold a glass shard as a diamond, you’re being sold a diamond! Just made differently!
This is also paired with the people saying “you can tell that it’s fake” because it’s big..? It WILL be big, you can go crazy with it, you’re not restricted by the price tag. I don’t personally like big or bulky jewelry but I’m not gonna rain on anyone’s parade!! Get it big and chunky if you want! Who cares!!

ngl, this is something that i had no idea there was discourse about??? But yeah i don't really mind if it's lab grown as long as it's still pretty wwww
and if it's cheaper and more ethical??? even better, sign me up.
people forget that gemstones are actually chemicals, those aren't magical otherworldly things, that's just some oxidized silicon with a bunch of chemical grime on it giving it color, if you know how to replicate that in a lab, then it's still the real deal

iirc, the discourse around lab-grown gemstones is because a lot of them aren't made in sustainable/ethical ways. i watched a documentary abt this a while ago let me google rq and see what i can find
ok so basically the issue is a lack of transparency. china produces the majority of the world's lab-grown diamonds, and they aren't exactly known for ethical business/environmental practices akshdashjahdas but also there isn't a lot of regulation around how they're produced. so overall they can be more sustainable, but also you need to know where they're sourced. and you can go just as far to find ethically-sourced natural gemstones. so. nya

most of the jewelry's is lab grown right!! like gem stoness?!?! here natural gemstones come with that country or place name!!
Sometimes if it’s fashion jewelry it isn’t even a gem, just fancy glass! Swarovski has a special type of glass for example.

my mom worked in jewelry many years and I love gems myself, and I agree with you. What's the big deal? I think it's impressive to BUILD a gem, atom by atom! That's just crazy that we can even do it! :D

maybe natural diamond are rarer and that makes it more expensive
like when you have SSR card, legendary skins, etc...
real diamond show your wealth and ppl usually like to show off their stuff
