i like mormons.
ok like- i saw the musical Book of Mormon, it was HILARIOUS btw. as an atheist, i like how it makes fun of the concept of religion in general.
like i get how mormons might see it as a direct attack on them but i think that the writers probably chose mormonism as the target because its a little strange. and since its "all american" it would be less controversial to make fun of since its not as mainstream as plain ol christianity or whatever but its not forgein becuase it could be taken in a very wrong way. ANYWAY
then i met mormons in real life one time. i was getting some volunteer hours packing up food for food pantries and it turns out a ton of mormons from a local church happened to volunteer that day too. so i ended up working with some young elders and as many horror stories there are, they are lokey just guys. nice guys, like religious boy scouts. tryna live their little perfect mormon life so they can get a planet when they die or whatver it is.
ig i just think religeon is a little silly after understanding what the musical was trying to say. like tf you mean joeseph smith dug up golden plates in his backyard and was like- "yeah. this is real" or like- i just- pfffttt. i fear thats how it is with jst abt any religion. like you hear a story of these magical beings and its like- "eey yeah that checks out."
and then learning abt the historical context briefly in APUSH furthered my understanding of mormons. and like- utah? like i get that early americans kicked mormons out cus they loved their puritanism or WHATEVER (ion remember and im going to fail the exam) but utah, thats such a random ass place but aight, enjoy your sandstone arches, high school musical, and FIVE wives-- i hear a lot abt "secret lives of mormons wives" ive never seen it but yall have been sleeping on "sister wives" it started in like- 2008 and just recently it ended. all the wives divored the guy lmfaooo
idk just smth abt mormons fascinate me and i think theyre silly. i like learning abt the lore n stuff and just thinking abt their existence.
