Tackling Gary Gygax's Controversal Statements.

E. Gary Gygax is one of the founding fathers of the tabletop roleplaying game. Without Dungeons & Dragons it is certain the TTRPG or RPG would not be as popular as it is today. Many of us might not even recognize many common fantasy ideas, and many parts of our modern pop culture would not exist. Such as the idea of LARPing or even potentially popular television show Stranger Things.

The issue comes up when we read his work. It was most certainly a different time in the 1970s and it's safe to say that if E. Gary Gygax grew up in our time he would most likely not share the same ideas as his actual self. The sad truth that must be acknowledged is the fact that he was Sexist.

This is not to discredit his amazing work in the world of tabletop games, and his massive influence in pop culture. It's just important to acknowledge this and understand that it most definitely part of his legacy, and it helps us understand him. I bring this topic up because of the well known and controversial introductory section in the beginning of the Fifty Years of Dungeons & Dragons book. Which enraged many old fans of the game and Republican grifters for it's audacity to bring this up.

It's my personal opinion that the introductory segment was most definitely dragged out, it would have been much better to simply acknowledge this. Yet, it is too late.

May we all understand that these things are true, that E. Gary Gygax was a sexist.
