Yapping about music

Lately I’ve been listening to Neutral Milk Hotel’s album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. It’s kinda sad that people typically associate the album with music elitist and /mu/ because I genuinely find the music and its connections to Anne Frank beautiful. I find learning the songs on guitar to be very fun because most of the songs don’t exceed four chords. That doesn’t necessarily mean the instrumentals are simple though, they use a variety of unconventional instruments like the iconic singing saw, uilleann pipes, and the zanzithophone. Sounds from radio waves as well as white noise are also incorporated into songs. The diverse instrumental selection creates a chaotic yet deeply human soundscape. When I listen to other lofi albums they usually leave me feeling depressed but this album makes me feel oddly hopeful, I'm not sure why. Someone might say I’m ‘glazing’ or ‘overrated’ to that I say LET ME ENJOY THINGS GOSHHH. I love Steins;Gate so I was ecstatic upon finding out there’s a conspiracy theory called ‘Mangum-Gate’. The theory is that Jeff Mangum travelled back in time to save Anne Frank, brought her back as his sister, and then married her. There are many flaws in this theory (obviously lmao) but it’s fun to think about. In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is such a pleasure to yap about with all its lore. I think this is the only lofi album I’ve been listening to lately. My dopamine receptors are beyond cooked, I've mostly been listening to high tempo electronic music like Bladee and other affiliates. One of my friends is going to a Bladee concert in a few days and I can’t imagine an audience I’d want to be apart of less. I am scared of male Bladee fans. I know it is wrong to standardize a group of people BUT as a terminally online person I’ve met a substantial amount of Bladee fans and in my experience they’ve all turned out to be the biggest incels or the biggest male manipulator love bombers ever. The first one is fine because all they do is comment ‘newgen’ and yap about how they hate women, but I’ve had horrible experiences with the second type.. I don’t even think these types of guys listen to Bladee anymore. I think they’ve moved onto Nettspend or something.  I will say there is a small percentage of OKish male Bladee fans (shout out Coffee). So don’t let this get you down male Bladee fans!! Quit manipulating women today and you can earn the rank of OKish too!!

With the new year coming up I wonder what new music trends will come of the chronically online music community. Idk if people would think this is controversial but I feel like this year people really ran down shoegaze to the point where all new shoegaze songs sound the same and the only bands with a unique (and pleasant) sound are the bands that are already massive (MBV, slowdive etc.). I think maybe next year people will move on from shoegaze and the other silly subgenres that end in the suffix ‘gaze’.I’ll stop slandering shoegaze and show some appreciation. Some shoegaze/shoegaze adjacent songs I like are Mrahc by Title Fight Lose Your Sight by Sadesper Record, and Alison by Slowdive. The song Alison makes me want to blow my brains out but I think it’s just great. Lose Your Sight is from the movie U.F.O. (2004) by Yu-Ichi Sukigara, I watched half of this movie a while back and never finished it. Maybe sometime soon I’ll watch the rest of it and review it on Letterboxd. I saw lots of Bossa Nova appreciation this year too which is always good. I hope next year another random genre starts trending like mongolian throat singing or something...

Anyway I’ve done enough yapping... This really is just brainless slop and me trying to have an archive of my own thoughts. I don’t think anyone will even read this but if you do don’t take it too seriously lmao.

FYI, the text was hard to read, the color is bad on the background. I had to Ctrl + A to read basically any of it.

Yeah, people get really strange about music sometimes. People just like to say they're glazing eachother for personal preferences which is dumb as shit. Even an objectively bad song can sound good to somebody, serious or not. Somebody has to like it somehow.

Shame you had a bad experience with those kind of listeners too :( Some of the time there's just really batshit insane listeners, and this can apply to basically any band or artist now.
