The worst book I have read in a long time: My Dark Romeo

This is probably one of the worst books I have ever read in my life, and I thought I was going to like it because they sold it to me as a dark retelling of Romeo and Juliet.

These were the main things I didn't like:

-Our beloved protagonist Dallas (from the name I should have known that I was not going to like the book), is what is defined as lazy, insufferable and with the mind of a spoiled child. Literally, the only traits of this girl are her taste for eating, reading erotic books, spending money that is not hers, sleeping, and an obsession with getting pregnant. I hate when a female character's sole goal is to be a mother and/or they try to trap her love interest with a baby, even if the latter made it clear that he doesn't want children. I was with her all the time in the mode, girl, you're 21 years old, you're not going to go through menopause soon, and you don't even have a job or other life prospects.

-Romeo, for his part, is the definition of a generic alpha male with a troubled past and serious daddy issues. This guy, apart from not having anything we would call "original", is stupid, unpleasant and rude to practically everyone, whether it's his staff or Dallas, whom he constantly calls lazy (not that he's wrong), insulting her intelligence and insinuated that she lacked education. These two had no chemistry and I can't imagine them both raising children in a functional way, especially when they both have the mentality and attitudes of preteens.

-The plot, which at the beginning had potential, ended up being dull, boring, which I felt like I had already read on other occasions and whose spicy scenes were the opposite for me.

-I hate this book's obsession with mentioning brands, if it were only once or twice I wouldn't care but the book spends its time doing it throughout, I absolutely don't care if your perfume is Chanel No. 9 or what. lipstick is red 48º, I don't come for this.

Taking into account how conservative the town where the protagonist was born is, it would have been perfect.

Well, you just saved me some money buying this book from my TBR! I thought the book had potential too considering the way it's been marketed on Tick Tok...

Yes, the truth is that the same thing happened to me with TikTok and I really wanted to like it, since I have always liked retellings but I couldn't.
