Sexuality is weird
The first time I coined the term bisexuality, I was 10 years old. I knew I had crushes on boys and girls in my class since Kindergarten. When I was a young'n, LGBTQ wasn't nearly as embraced and accepted as it is today.
At ten years old, I didn't fully know or understand myself, but I was ecstatic to find a term to describe my interests. At first, I tried to keep it a secret, but as the time passed and I went to middle school, I told a friend I thought I could trust. This was late 2009, and I was surprised that my class turned against me and bullied me for this notion. I didn't really understand homophobia until then. Thankfully times changed for the better, and it got more socially acceptable.
By the time I was 17 I was exploring my identity and for a short time identified as pansexual. I decided to switch back to bisexual because it was more familiar to me, and I like the colors.
As of the past several years I've learned of Sapphic being described for wlw and I quickly embraced it. I realized I'm more attracted to femininity. I find even some drag queens, crossdressers, and femboys cute and I feel like that's valid for bisexuality, too. There's the stigma that bisexuals do not include nonbinary people, that is not true. I'm proudly nonbinary and bisexual.
There's all sorts of conversation regarding if its okay for bi people to have preference. I think it's normal. Not all bi people have a preference, but bi people who do have preference aren't invalid. I think the many different ways people can be bi is what makes it special.
Everyday I'm learning about myself and the world around me, and it's what makes life spectacular. I think it's wonderful to have color and to shine your own hue. It's amazing the things you can learn when you open your mind to it, and as long as no one is hurting themselves or others, admire what kind of rainbow they can create.
There's no point to this blog entry, I just wanted to ramble about my sexuality after reading 2+ year old blog entries in The Gays
