Dorion Gray is symbolizitaion of a pure soul who doesn't know any evil. His first encounter with evil, Lord Whateverhisname, is quite interesting. We can't exactly call Lord, evil, but he seems to be. The resaon why Lord wants to stay young is simple: we always want what we don't have. So Gray wants to stay young too because he believes he's only loved because of his looks rather than behavior. With this belief and beauty not going anywhere, he starts to destroy his own soul out of pure boredom. He kind of acts like the artist towards the acctres, only loving for her acting skills just like how he's only loved for his beauty. So he acts exactly the same towards the acctres. When he realizes he's lost, it's too late: meaing of life comes from death.
