Sometimes I get too obsessed with drawing on my phone/tablet so I have to ensure some checks are place to make sure I am on that studying grind. This is basically a map I use to remind myself of what to do if I lose my self-regulation
FocusMe - Website/application blocker - its like 20 bucks for a student but I've been using it since 2018. It force shuts everything I program it to!
I use both a monthly and weekly planner to prospect what I want from the week but a daily planner with an expected versus an observed to curb myself so I don't get lost.
I use LiveSplit (which is actually for speedrunning games against best times whatever) to simulate stress as I am working against the clock when trying to reach a stretch goal (e.x., finishing up a paper component).
Finally, I put my phones in a jar and lock it in the basement for a prescribed period of time called an affordance because there's a time I can afford to open them during a busy week. I use a cruddy phone to facilitate my communication lol
What are some wacky self-regulation strats you use to avoid getting addicted to something?
