A poem for a star

In the dark sky I saw

A star bright and beautiful 

In the sky at dawn

A light new but dull

The reach of my arm 

So far away

I glide through the stars

Only to find that ray

Shining through my skin

A light that reaches my soul

Even though it seems dimm

My inner light feels whole

As I cradle that light in comfort and love

It's light seems to fade 

And it's true form is revealed 

A dying tree, a poisoned dove

A star that once was loved

I had screamed

It is so bright

When I see wrecked  

I sense a light
