Marriage and Independence

Life throws many obstacles, doesnt it? But is marriage the solution for it all?

A few minutes ago I got a call from Shayla, its pretty normal for me to receive calls from her but this time it hurt my ego..

Her friend is getting married this month. Thats big news. Im used to that. But why did my ego hurt today?

9 months or less and shes already getting married, all because she has family problems. A bitch of a mother and a depressed dad and an obsessive brother who thinks he knows it all.

Today after a whole lot of talking while at work, Shayla told me that her friend had collapsed due to heartbreak. Which is why her ex boyfriend decided to marry her..

Is marriage the answer to everything? For stress and life problems? Is it the solution?

But why dont I still have a ring or gotten the question popped upon?

But thats okay. I think. Do married women get as much as independence as single women? Or do they have to "obey and to listen" to their mostly unfaithful husbands? Being a homemaker, a mother and all but what do they do or worse yet how do they know when they are being busy with another women or a man?

I like to remind myself as Shayla said im now and independent women. I work hard, im earning my degree while taking no time for myself.

Rachel got proposed in a month. Shayla has been with the same man for 9 years without the question or even a ring. What are we doing wrong?

But as Shayla reminded me

"You are an independent women now"

and i think thats a win for now...
