How do people date.

I know it sounds strange, but how do people even date?

Maybe I'm too awkward but I just could not imagine dating someone at all. I'd like to one day, I would, but I don't know how I'd even make it to the point where I'd confess my feelings to someone. 

I know it happens, obviously, but in all the crushes I've ever had (And they've been severely few) I always kept it close to my chest. Maybe if I didn't I could take the next step into that scary journey, rejection and all. 

It's been on my mind lately for some reason lol.
