Autumn 2024 Reading Synopsis

Top reads

1. Misery - Stephen King

It's not easy for a book to induce this much paranoia within me but I genuinely spent every page wondering when Annie would appear

2. Cards on the Table - Agatha Christie

Defs a new favourite Christie book, it sticks to a small number of suspects which makes the number of twists between them so impressive

3. The Eye of the World - Robert Jordan

This is such a rabbit hole, the world building and magic system has such a satisfying level of detail. I've already got the next book in the series straight away :D

4. Carmilla - Sheridan Le Fanu

The OG Dracula, Carmilla is THE femme fatale and I love how it unfolds

Honourable Mentions

And Then There Were None - Agatha Christie again, recommended by a colleague

The Wasp Factory - Iain Banks, not as violent as I expected from what people said

Hangman - Daniel Cole, a cinematic detective hunt

Else

I've held down my dream job for two months now. Tough work but the commute is two hours each way which means more time for reading... that's the good side anyway. If I don't buy too many books I can relocate closer to work next year.

The closing of Halloween is always a shame, but winter is a great opportunity to stay inside and live the cosy life. I appreciate my hot black coffee thesedays.

I hope you reading this (yeah, you!) are taking time for yourself and staying warm. Christmas social burnout is a real issue. Happy December, and that's all for now.

Current song: Kyphosis - Yakui the Maid
