One of the eight realms–Spheivi, the fairy realm–was astonishing in its beauty; the planet itself was the shape of an enormous torus with the diameter of Aldebaran, a star bigger than the Earth’s sun by several thousand times and there was a tiny moon and star in the center. “Fae” covered a huge variety of beings, the most well known by humans were the winged-fae, mermaids, unicorns, pixies and gnomes. There were insect fairies, reptile fairies, underground fairies–you name it, it exists. The overseeing Fae Court was led by one of the eight Entities; love. They were unmatched in fae power. Each fairy in the court represented the main components that made up all people: heart, soul, mind, body and essence. Essence was the combination of the other four and, as a result, could feel each associated emotion. These fae were the keepers of their respective components.
Unfortunately, right now, the court could not enjoy their home, nor could they keep a steady watch over their components, there was simply too much at stake. The Fae and all kinds of beings from other realms fought like hell to release the balance keepers from their prison and fight off the chaotic forces trying to thwart them. They’d been hiding them every time they got a glimpse of them and any time they could do anything to aid them. Now, however, they were completely in the dark–literally and figuratively–and they were getting restless. Their energy was a hundred times more chaotic than it ever had been; the dark was so dark, so overwhelming. There was always darkness, there had to be a balance of dark and light and, when there wasn’t, it was the balance keepers’ jobs to eliminate or magnify their element as needed until balance was restored. When enough was restored, people started coming out of the sickness of too much of one or the other and helping to restore it. However, the Lightkeeper and Voidwatcher had been bound, it had gotten completely out of control which forced them to fail miserably. The pain of the imbalance affected absolutely every single type of being in existence and their pain could spiral out of control, causing a snowball effect, making things get worse faster and faster.
The Fae Court nor anyone else could do much, as the balance keepers were cloaked. Hekla, the fairy of essence, cast the spell to cloak them, she knew it was unbreakable. As long as they were hidden, they had to depend on Luck.. and hopefully she had found them. It sure felt like she had but it didn’t seem to be easing their pain much. Hekla sat in her nook at her end of her “planet” in the fairy realm, far away from the court, as if it was enough to drown out the others’ anxiety, but it wasn’t. What was worse was that it was only three of the five–not including Hekla herself– that were currently losing their minds, so it actually could be worse. Ugh.
‘Ugh’ yourself, Breki hissed harshly. Their minds were connected, they could “hear” everything the others thought and right now it was excruciating. What are you doing to help, hmm?
What can we do? The gateways are closed and Sheili– Hekla thought the name with petulance–is on a little vacation.
She’s not on a vacation, asshat, she’s trying to guide them. If you have nothing helpful to add, shut up, this time it was Alette that told her off. Hekla knew Sheili was not ‘on vacation,’ but she was feeling vicious lately. Her sulky attitude irritated the others further and they snarled at her. They were all so touchy, though she felt she may have deserved some of it. Maybe. She couldn’t help that everything she felt was amplified; she could feel everything they felt but it was infinitely worse because she was the combination of their “elements.” She huffed. This was all because of those stupid stinking demi-gods. Who didn’t see this mess coming? She understood the concept of checks and balances but when you give such egotistical beings that much power, did anyone expect anything else? And of course one of them made an entire race of lunatics just like them and then POOF! They decimated the balance and even made several demi-gods so powerful through their constant insane worship, they grew strong enough to bind the balance keepers themselves. What a bunch of morons.
AGAIN, Nidi, the sweetest of the fae, snapped, if you are not helping, SHUT IT.
Now Hekla felt ashamed of herself. She sighed and, though she could teleport if she wanted to, she needed to calm herself and the others, so she flew to them. Because of the darkness being so strong right now, everything seemed dim. She decided to focus on the beauty of it instead of letting it get her down: the violent storms, as big as planets, were powerful and protective and they lasted lifetimes. The vast deserts were silent and still, a complete lack of humanoid energy which tended to be more chaotic and exhausting. The forests were nourishing and calming. Moons and stars reflected on glassy lakes and shimmered on rivers and the waterfalls pouring from the floating islands as they bobbed a bit in the wind but were, as usual, serene. Enormous trees, plants and dwellings of other beings were lit up and their beauty made her stop for a moment just to admire her home. She didn’t want to be anywhere else, she didn’t want to fight with anyone, but they had to or it would all be lost. She breathed deep, exhaled, then kept moving. She hoped these images were helping them feel better.
When Hekla got to the libraries, however, Nidi, Breki and Alette were succumbing to panic and despair.
