A CLOCKWORK ORANGE

so I wanted to yap about the book and the movie "a clockwork orange", because it has a very unique way of telling a point of view on "good" and "evil" and the humanity itself.

watching the movie or reading the book we get to know a story of a fifteen year old boy named Alex, who with his "brothers" terrorizes people on the streets, attacking them, beating to death or raping them. It's their way to have "fun" and it is also the way Anthony Burgess (the author of the book) displays his dystopian idea of the future youth. He also does it by writing it in a very specific slang that he made himself which is a combination of english mixed with russian and a very complicated sentence structures.

But getting back to the plot of the book, Alex gets arrested at some point, but he heard about a way of getting out of the prison earlier, which was going on the experimental "Ludovico treatment", which required the subject to be strapped into a chair with their eyes held open while watching prepared films of violence under the influence of a purposely developed drug. Alex was not acknowledged with what the treatment is actually gonna be. The drug however would cause him to feel some sort of pain watching those films, to create some sort of a physical memory that his body and mind would develop towards violence.

however, one film had a background music, which was the Beethovens ninth symphony, which Alex loved dearly.

and after the treatment, anytime he heard it he would feel this pain that he was supposed to feel while watching violence or having any thoughts about doing something violent. So when he heard the symphony, he tried to kill himself, because the feeling was unbearable to him.

and that's the most important thing of the story, because the dilemma of it is who really is evil at this point?

Because of the treatment, the only thing humane about Alex was killed, which was his passion for Beethoven. And the whole treatment was to steal his power of choosing between being good or evil, which infringes on his free will.

so yeah, that was my rant and im curious what is ur opinion on that topic
