what is banba?

banba is a gyaru substyle that developed from manba. it is often called ‘barbie manba’. it keeps the same manba elements (dark skin, makeup style) but the colours are more toned down and the style is different, including dark colours, gold jewellery and animal print instead of neon colours, colourful jewellery and summery prints.

what is tsuyome?

tsuyome is a gyaru substyle that is described as a toned down version of banba. it includes animal print, denim, gold jewellery and a dark colour scheme with strong makeup to make a bold and glamourous look. it is common to have tan skin, light lips, big lashes and white eye makeup.

whats the difference?

the difference mainly lies in the makeup style; banba has manba makeup style, just less colours. tsuyome is closer to the ‘classic’ gyaru look.
