School ableism rant

This is my first blog post, I really don't know what kinda stuff I'll put on here. I'm gonna put a back story, I'll probably add some of this stuff to my about info later, I'm 16, trans, and I have adhd, hypermobility ehlers danlos syndrome (a connective tissue disorder which main symptom is joint hypermobility but MANY other things go with it including chronic pain and illness) I also have depression and anxiety and few other mental and physical issues. School has been a very toxic place for me for awhile now, it started getting worse when my best friend moved away in 7th grade. A lot of teenagers are really toxic, they just don't have very much life experience and there's the horamones. The ableism in school doesn't help either, if you get sick and miss school then your grades drop and you're loaded with assignments, it doesn't help that kids purposely come to school sick for this very reason which puts other more vulnerable kids at risk (like me). Theres also the fact that PE is required, I have chronic fatigue and having PE in the middle of the day would put me out for the rest of the day, I also have days where it's hard to walk, I want to ask my doctor for a not to waive the credits but I'm afraid that she'll say no and that PE would be good for me. Then there's some teachers who take of points for late work, like maybe a little understanding would help, these teachers usually don't give very much time to do it either. Then there's the dreaded health class curriculum, my health teacher (the fucking wrestling coach) was teaching about how if you make good choices for your body then you'll be healthy, he also said and I quote "people who become ill are a burden to their families, employers, and the government". Like what fucking teacher tells littoral teenagers that a group of people are a burden, I understand what he means but other teenagers may not. It's like he didn't even think about disabled people and chronically ill people who didn't do anything to make themselves that way, like I'm fucking sorry that I was born this way. Telling teenagers this could make them not tell people when they're sick because they'll think that they are a burden, this is how people die, they wait to long to get looked at and by the time they go to the doctors it's to late. This is how my aunt died, she was feeling sick when we went to Disneyland in May of 2016 and by the time she went went to the doctors at the end of June or early July that year the cancer had already spread throughout her entire body and she died within a few weeks of being diagnosed. The virus has been kinda good to me in the fact that school is online, I'm in a comfortable place without all the teenage angst (only a little XD), the worst grade I got last semester was an A- and that was in AP seminar. I'm not planning on going back to in person school till I get vaccinated because I have moderate asthma normally and when I'm sick it gets severe. I'm planning on doing running start and go to college next year and have a few electives at my high school (band and probably something else) so hopefully college has a better atmosphere than high school. Anyways.... rant over I guess. IDGAF who reads this, goodbye

High school is horrible. There's a reason why some don't even make it to graduation and ablism is a huge factor. The school system treats every student as if they are the same which is the worst way to go about things. College is much better depending on which college you go to. Clark College has pulled some huge bullshit to the point where I pretty much dropped out but they are usually pretty good about accommodating to everyone's needs. I'm so proud of you because despite all the difficulty you've been through and are still going through, you keep going. Also proud of you for speaking up and bringing awareness to problems such as ablism. Keep doing what you're doing and have a good night :)
