So, the other day I was chatting with my roommate and we discussed how social media has fallen down the rabbit hole–and found it and capitalized it. I remember when I was 10 and I opened my first Instagram account: it was all King Kylie and girls with dyed hair and pictures doing whatever. I remember when I was thirteen and I started this one account about Starter Packs and stuff following a particular archetype of a person. It was fun, Instagram was so much fun to me. Send now, messed up algorithms where I can't even see what my friends posted unless I keep up-to-date with their profiles. It's absolutely impersonal now. It's a judging zone, and overall --> an app for creative people had turned into a selling platform. If I wanted to go on stops to ship, I'd hit that Amazon.com or go onto AliExpress myself.
It used to be fun, and now, it's just content creators and capitalizing from human engaging send sharing experiences and slices of their life. Commenting it's "too serious", posting it's left for once-a-year exposure.
Thank you Instagram for selling your soul. I hate you.

i hate instagram with a passion bc it turned what used to be my safe space during my teenage years into a capitalist hellscape. same with literally every social media - facebook, twitter, youtube... tumblr's a bit better but they're still annoying with the ads and shit. even tiktok, which used to be the "cringe" app, is now "mainstream" and everyone and their mom uses it. and there's fucking tiktok shop which is basically amazon but worse.
