Hi gorgeous! Welcome or welcome back to my blog! Today I'm reviewing XG's newest album "AWE," which I've been wanting to do since the release of the album, and also something that I've been wanting to make a reoccurring post for whenever my favorite artists ever release new music.

The album contains 8 songs:

༻Space meeting skit
༻Howl
༻Howling
༻IYKYK
༻Something Ain't Right
༻In The Rain
༻Is This Love
༻Woke Up Remixx

The first song on the list is Space Meeting Skit. For those that are not fully aware of XG's concept, it contains a lot of intergalactic elements, and essentially, the whole idea is that they're aliens who were created as test subjects to explore different planets (FYI this is simply my interpretation of the story, as there's still a lot of lore to be revealed by the group themselves, and are vastly interpreted by other fans.) However according to Space Meeting Skit, it sounded like the story surrounding the song is that the girls found UFOs in the sky, and in my theory, have been taken by them to become "XG." Honestly I really like this skit. Kind of reminds me of one of BTS's skit to their album BE (which was my all time favorite album!) Overall, the skit is really good and has a lot of potential for storytelling.

The second song on the album is Howl. Four words: Shivers. Down. My. Spine. The orchestra mixed with the howling wolves and contemporary beats makes this such an impactful song to listen to. It's almost like you're being transported into a whole new world, or possibly in XG's world, like a song that they can play at like the beginning of a concert. It's super eerie yet majestic, and honestly just magical to listen to. Really nothing else to say here, besides that it's really good to listen to, and fits into the concept super well.

The third song on the album is Howling. First off, the music video was literal eye-candy, and really complements the song well, which contains really strong hip-hop and crush kpop elements. As always Cocona's rap is just chef's kiss, and Harvey's vocals are super unique, but my personal favorite parts is a huge tie between Maya and Juria, but really all of them I adore. Overall, Howling is super fun to listen to and really captures XG's creativity.

The fourth song on the list is IYKYK, one of my favorite songs on the album. The music has some upbeat pop elements, and is pretty catchy. The music video for it, as always, very fitting and has about the same aesthetic appeal as Howling, only that it looks more bright with natural and artistic scenes. I really do think that Chisa simply ate with this song, along with Maya, Jurin, and Harvey, but I don't know if it's just me, but i felt like Cocona was given less lines as she only had one rap verse and a few side vocals, but other than that the song is super catchy.

The fifth song is Something Ain't Right. Not gonna lie, the song to me sounds slightly similar to IYKYK, and I always get them mixed up for some reason lol! Anyways, Something Ain't Right contains more of a house music feel to it the first time I heard it, and the bass in this song just scratches my brain in all the right places (and you're guaranteed to get hooked on the song when you hear it. Trust me). I think Jurin, Chisa and Juria, along with Harvey's rap and the cute Hinata-zilla moment in the music video, really gave this song a lot more personality.

The sixth song is In The Rain. Personally, whenever XG touch on RnB vibes in the style of a break up song, like Christmas Without You, I feel like that's a sign that you know the album is gonna be good, and you can really hear the beauty of their vocals. There's not much to say about this one other than that this song just shows that they're multi-talented queens.

The seventh song, and my favorite song, in the album is Is This Love. It's not only the chorus that's catchy, but just the entire vibe of the song. I personally would say that it's a bit leaning on cute kpop, with an XG twist, kind of around the area of dream pop (if that's an actual style of pop one might consider.) Again, all the girls knew the assignment, and I love all their parts.

Last but not least, is the Woke Up Remix, which might be my least favorite song on the album. I'd much rather prefer the original version than the remix version, in all honesty. Now don't get me wrong, there are some good artist one here that made the song a little bit likeable, and some artists I would much rather not be in the remix. But other than that, this song is ok, but doesn't really capture the essence that the original version had.

That about wraps up this lil' album review. Let me know which songs you like in the comments, and what you think about the album. Take care gorgeous!!
