How to make friends

Literally how do people make/meet friends on here! Literally anyone I ever talk to only talks for like a few hours then they're offline for months. Or I'm the only one who has to initiate conversation 😞. How do you guys find people to talk to and does it ever last? I'd like to meet people as well.
