vinyl* not vinyls;)
its demand, thats all really, i started collecting in 2018, and it was expensive back then but certainly not as expensive as now as popularity has hit a high especially with people just buying them as merch instead of a medium.

theres other factors, like some plants are still made by people one by one, so that racks prices up now, but theyre quite cheap to make, especially mass produced by machines, but not so easy for sellers to make money on, so they need to rack prices up a bit.

so say the plant can make them $3 a record, but sell them to a shop for a bulk supply that comes to $23 each, the shop still needs to make money so theyll sell it for $30. (those are just example numbers, not actual prices). so for selling new, sellers only make a few bucks each album sold.
thats why alot of record shops sell second hand albums too. if they buy a whole collection for a couple hundred second hand theyll tend to make alot more money from those records than a supplier.
